A state of anger prevailed among Likud party members over the agreement struck between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Hebrew sources revealed. A number of Likud members displayed their opposition to the coalition agreement and threatened to leave the party, warning that the merger agreement would "destroy the Likud movement," and would reduce the Likud's seats in the Knesset in the next elections. There is no reason to lead some poles in Likud party, including Minister Dan Meridor to withdraw from the party, over approving merger with Yisrael Beiteinu, Lieberman said. The Hebrew radio quoted Lieberman on Sunday as saying that the Likud movement and Yisrael Beiteinu party will submit a joint list of candidates for the 19th Knesset elections, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing that they will continue to work after the elections separately. The Likud party will be asked to vote on the merger between the Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu parties during its general conference on Sunday.
