An Iranian official has warned of the new conspiracies of the United States and Zionist regime to foment ethnic and sectarian strife among Muslims following their failures to undermine the Islamic Awakening. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks during a meeting with senior members of the Lebanese Islamic Action Front on Wednesday. He noted: “Maintaining unity and resistance against the aggressions of the Zionist [Israeli] regime towards the oppressed Palestinians… is still a major priority for the Islamic world.” The Lebanese officials, for their part, acknowledged Iran’s position in the region and its support for resistance to the Zionist regime, and reiterated the need for meetings, consultations, and the exchange of ideas between the scholars of Islamic countries. They went on to say that the enemies’ hypocrisy in dealing with the issues of the Islamic world is no secret, adding that the US and Israeli regime's media hype to create divisions among Muslims will be in vain.
