NAM, a major international organization after the United Nations campaigns for a part in governance of the international community, upholding grievances about the unjust composition of the UN Security Council and aspirations of the developing nations. NAM Leaders said in Tehran Summit on August 31 that the UN Security Council is the defunct legacy of World War II lacking the legitimacy to govern the international community. About his plan for New York visit, President Ahmadinejad said he is to present Iran's stand on the important global problems and offer proposals for removing them. Ahmadinejad noted this will be my last presence in the United Nations General Assembly as the Iranian President. As part of his plan, Iran's President said he is to hold bilateral meetings there. He added he is also planned to hold special meetings to review related issues to the NAM member states. He said that he will make interviews with foreign media and meetings with the Iranians residing in the United States. President Ahmadinejad further described his visit to New York as the most different one from those in previous years, a reference to his responsibility to take up agenda of NAM member states.
