A member of the Afghan National Army on Monday turned his weapon on the US-led soldiers with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), in the latest instance of what is commonly referred to as ‘green-on-blue’ or ‘insider’ attacks. "ISAF soldiers returned fire and killed the attacker," a spokesman for the US-led coalition forces said. ISAF, however, did not disclose the nationalities of the slain foreign soldiers. Meanwhile, the spokesman for Laghman governor office, Mohammad Na’man Hatefi told Press TV the Afghan soldier who shot the two US-led forces attempted to escape, but was targeted by American helicopters immediately after the incident, he added.US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has recently expressed deep concerns about the growing number of the insider attacks against the US-led forces, urging Afghan President Hamid Karzai to take necessary measures to curb the assaults. Some analysts believe the maltreatment and humiliation of Afghan military forces by American officers is the main reason behind the insider attacks in the war-ravaged country.
