Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Friday night called on all Islamic states to make use of their economic potentials to ”cut the hand of the enemies.” ”We (can only blame) ourselves for promoting the economies of the enemies and letting them impose pressure on us whenever they wish,” Ahmadinejad said at a meeting with Syrian economic officials. ”Just three percent of global trade is accounted for by trade among Islamic countries. Islamic states are main importers from non-Islamic countries,” he said with regret. He cited Islamic states` lack of awareness of their capabilities, defective administrations, slow and arbitrary decisions as some of the reasons behind the current trade situation. ”Today, a big economic war is underway. The political war is obvious to all but there is an economic war that goes on undetected,” he said. The president stressed that Iran was wholly favorable to all-out economic cooperation with Syria and intends to successfully speed up implementation of joint projects. ”Iran and Syria can boast of their skilled work forces and technical knowhow. We can meet our needs by ourselves,” he said.
