Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said the US Administration has proved it is not committed to bilateral and international commitments and this it cannot conceal by deception. Asefi said the US` interfering policies run counter with the Algeria statement. He assessed as ”futile” the US measure to allocate a budget for non-state individuals and institutions to fight Iran, saying ”the measure will disgrace the White House even more.” The US has allocated a five-million-dollar budget for non-state Iranian institutions, radio and television programs to fight Iran. ”The US is reviving its hostile policies adopted against Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution (in 1979) and intended to be implemented in various economic and cultural spheres. ”Despite the expectations of US officials, the country`s hostile measures have led to reinforcement of unity of the Iranian nation and stronger support for the Islamic Republic system. ”The United States is getting more and more isolated in the Islamic world through its all-out support for the Zionist regime and unwavering support for the regime`s interests,” Asefi said. Foreign Ministry spokesman meanwhile dismissed the anti-Iran statements of Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz as ”baseless.” ”The statements,” Asefi said, ”indicate the Zionist regime`s desperation.” He stressed that ”the support given by the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Palestinian people and their cause is merely spiritual,” adding that ”not only Iran but all Muslim and freedom-loving states supported the legitimate struggles of the Palestinian people.” Israeli Defence Minister Mofaz accused Iran on Friday of having been behind the suicide bombing of a sandwich store in Tel Aviv which wounded 30 people. ”The Zionist regime is well aware that the root cause of problems in the region lies in the inhuman policies of the regime. However, by instigating acts and blaming others, it tries to conceal its increasing weakness and continuing failures, Asefi noted.
