Following President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad`s remarks on the occupying Zionist regime, western media reacted harshly and hastily to the issue. Three anti-Zionist expatriate activists residing in Britain were asked to give their views on the issue by London-based IRNA reporter. One of the political activists, head of a civil institution called `Campaign for Solidarity with Palestine`, Gill Kaffash, told IRNA that the issue of `Holocaust` aside from being either a historical fact or overvalued cannot basically serve to justify Israel`s tyranny against the Palestinian people. ”There is no doubt that a great number of Jews along with other victims of the Nazi army were killed by Hitler. However, historical phenomena need to be further examined to uncover the truth. Therefore banning opposition to the theses termed as `invariable reality` is irrational,” she said. Kaffash noted that in a country where people enjoy freedom of expression, grounds should be prepared for expression of new opinions. She added that it is strange that in such a community even debating against `Holocaust` is considered a crime. Kaffash rejected the idea of preventing various outlooks being expressed on the issue. Having just returned from a five-week visit to Palestine, she said that the Palestinian nation is still striving to survive and protect its identity. ”Palestinians are shock-resistant and quite unlikely to display their clear approach towards sensitive issues which can damage some of their achievements. ”The Europeans do not admit that they are responsible for killing the Jews in World War II and bringing up the fact that Palestinians should not be victimized for such massacre is correct,” concluded the British activist. Another activist, a member of the `Association of Palestinian Community in UK`, H. Rajab, talking to IRNA, confirmed President Ahmadinejad`s outlook and said that Zionist leaders use the massacre of the Jews by the Nazis as a pretext to justify their occupation of Palestine. ”Meanwhile, the Palestinians believe that if the Jews are provided a safe haven in the heart of Europe and settled there it would be better for everyone. ”Though the Europeans admit that they have mistreated the Jews in the past, rather than seeking the solution in their own land to compensate for their past mistakes, they have kept on the process of sending migrants to Palestinian lands and developing townships illegally resided by Jews for the past 60 years,” he added. The Palestinian activist noted that formation of an Israeli government dates back to the period the Palestinians were under British protectorate, when the Israelis were granted lands which did not belong to them. ”As a Palestinian, I can never accept an Israeli government officially recognized in the occupied lands belonging to Palestine. However, under the current conditions, the Palestinian people have no option but to move step by step. ”The Palestinians do not trust the Middle East Arab states and any anti-Israeli move by them is immediately condemned by the US and Europe, so there remains no chance for establishment of a Palestinian government,” he added. Besides, he said that Israel seeks to pretend that the Palestinian Resistance Movement as a campaign against Jews to continue its illegal occupation of Palestine under such a pretext. ”Ahmadinejad`s statement on Israel is not directed against its residents, but rather targets the Israeli government in the region,” he said. Rajab hoped that in the long-term they will manage to put an end to the current racist government by gaining the majority of the Palestinian Authority, similar to what happened in South Africa. The activist said that in a poll last year, 69 percent of the Europeans considered Israel as the first potential threat for international security. ”When the Israeli government is taken by the European people as a threat to world peace, why should Palestinians not think so and why should they fall victim to such a dangerous government?” he concluded. A British Jew, who is an opponent of the Israeli government, told IRNA that the remarks of Iranian president has been misinterpreted. He noted that the Israeli officials make negative use of Ahmadinejad`s remarks to create a sense of fear among Israeli residents and justify their warmongering plans. As the manager of a British peace institution, he said that recently some films revealing the racist activities of the Zionist regime in occupied lands were screened in London.
