The US President GEORGE W. BUSH admitted that faulty pre-war intelligence on IRAQ is making it harder for Washington to make its case against Iran, Bloomberg reported. ”People will say, if we`re trying to make the case on Iran, you know, `Well, the intelligence failed in Iraq; therefore, how can we can trust the intelligence in Iran?` ``, Bush said Monday in a press conference at the White House. Iran is pressing ahead with its nuclear plans despite opposition from the U.S., Europe and Israel, who suspect that its working on an atomic weapons program. The Islamic republic insists that its NUCLEAR PROGRAM is strictly aimed at the peaceful generation of electricity and that it has a right to enrich uranium as a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Bush administration made its case against Iraq by alleging that toppled leader Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons were found in Iraq. ”No question that the intelligence failure on weapons of mass destruction caused all intelligence services to have to step back and re-evaluate the process of gathering and analyzing intelligence,`` Bush said. ”Where it is going to be most difficult to make the case is in the public arena.`` The American President also said that Washington is backing Europe`s diplomatic efforts to curb Iran`s nuclear program, but expressed diplomatic path also requires rebuilding faith in the collection of intelligence gathering, Bush said, according to Bloomberg. ”The credibility of intelligence is necessary for good diplomacy.” Iran`s nuclear negotiations with Britain, France and Germany are scheduled to resume today in Vienna. According to AFP, Tehran said it will offer new proposals at the talks, but stressed that it won`t compromise on its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes. ”We will make other proposals,” said Gholam Reza Aghazadeh, a Vice-President and head of Iran`s Atomic Energy Organization. ”The Iranian delegation will welcome all proposals, on the condition that they recognize the rights of Iran,” he added. Aghazadeh did not say what proposals Iran will present at the talks, but he mentioned President MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD`s offer for foreign companies to be involved in enrichment on Iranian soil as a form of guarantee that the fuel cycle will not be converted to make weapons. The Europeans have already dismissed the offer. According to Iran`s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, Wednesday`s talks will mainly focus on ways to ensure that ”Iran`s enrichment is not diverted” to military purposes. ”The world has understood that the national will of Iran to enrich is serious,” Larijani said, adding that ”the atmosphere created by the United States increases the determination of Iran to reach its nuclear objectives as quickly as possible”.
