Perseverance and resistance are the only ways to defend the identity and independence of Islamic countries, said an official here on Sunday. ”To defend the identity and independence of the world of Islam and of the Muslim Ummah, there is no alternative for Muslim nations except perseverance and resistance,” said Secretary General of the International Conference of Support for Palestinian Intifada Ali-Akbar Motashamipour in an interview with IRNA here on Sunday. Mohtashamipour is on three-nation tour of Lebanon, Syria and Jordan to submit Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel`s messages to his counterparts inviting them to attend the Conference of Support for Palestinian Intifada and for the rights of Palestinian nation and al-Qods. Speakers from the Arab, Muslim and certain non-Islamic states, supporting the Palestinian nation, will attend the meeting, due to be held in Tehran early next year. Mohtashamipour who had already been in Lebanon said Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri had welcomed Haddad-Adel`s invitation, stressing he will visit Iran at the head of a parliamentary delegation. Having received Haddad-Adel`s message, Syrian Speaker M. al-Abrash invited Muslim and non-Muslim speakers to attend such an `extremely significant` meeting. Mohtashamipour is scheduled to meet Jordanian speaker A. H. al-Majali in Amman on Monday for the same purpose. He said that he and al-Abrash had in their discussions stressed building up spirit of resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. He added that the US and Zionist regime are building up much pressure on resistance forces in Lebanon, Syria and Iran in an attempt to put an end to the Palestinian issue and noble Qods. He praised Syrian president for his strong support for resistance in Lebanon and Palestine.
