Iran s Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said that he would seriously follow up the fate of four kidnapped Iranian diplomats and a Shiite leader Imam Musa Sadr. Haddad-Adel arrived in Beirut Thursday morning on an official four-day visit which will also take him to Syria later on. Talking to reporters at Beirut International Airport, Haddad-Adel expressed hope that efforts made by Iran and Lebanon to determine fate of the four diplomats would bear fruits. Iran,s then charge d,affaires to Beirut Mohsen Mousavi, Iranian diplomat Taqi Rastegar-Moqaddam, the country,s military attache Ahmad Motevasselian and IRNA photojournalist Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped in Beirut in 1982 while being escorted by the Lebanese police on their way back home from a mission in northern Lebanon. In response to a question posed by IRNA reporter on practical easures the 7th Majlis has adopted to release the diplomats, he said, a delegation of Iranian students recently visited Lebanon and a pecial committee was set up to follow up the case. We regard these two measures as effective steps in this regard. A 36-member delegation of Iranian students made a four-day visit to Lebanon as of August 25, 2005 to follow up the diplomats, fate. He said Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is also serious in following up the fate of Imam Musa Sadr who was abducted in Libya on August 31, 1978. Asked about strategies adopted by Iran to reduce pressure on Lebanon, Haddad-Adel said, We support the Lebanese nation,s stance and are against any foreign interference. Unity among Lebanese ethnic groups and exchange of visits between the two countries, officials are effective in this regard. He said his visit to Lebanon is aimed at consolidating bilateral ties and holding talks with the country\'s officials to voice Iran,s support for the Lebanese government and nation. Berri, for his part, praised Iran\'s role in the liberation of southern parts of Lebanon and its support for country in international circles and assessed the visit by the Iranian Majlis speaker to Lebanon at this sensitive juncture as important. He criticized dual attitude of the West on Iran\'s peaceful nuclear program and dangerous nuclear arsenals of the Zionist regime and said pressures are now being exerted on Iran while no one speaks of Israel\'s nuclear warheads and arsenals.
