Iran's Minister of Information and Communication Technology Reza Taqipour has rejected US claims that Iran has conducted cyber attacks against other countries. Taqipour told reporters on Wednesday: “These remarks which have been repeatedly made against Iran are delusions and utter lies.” He added: “The [Iranian] ministry [of Information and Communication Technology] has complete control over cyber networks inside Iran and has never conducted any attack on the websites of other countries.” Taqipour noted that by promoting such ideas, the US aims to start a psychological propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta recently accused Iran, China and Russia of launching cyber attacks against the United States and oil companies of certain Persian Gulf countries. Iranian officials have rejected the allegations saying that the country has itself been the target of several cyber attacks over the past few years. In June, a report by the Washington Post said that the US and Israeli regime have cooperated in creating the computer virus Flame to spy on Iran.
