The Islamic Republic of Iran's Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, upon arrival in the Capital of Azerbaijan Republic, Baku, emphasized on the reinforcement of the regional status of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). in an address to reporters at Baku Airport on Monday morning, the Iranian foreign minister referred to the ECO Summit meetings on Tuesday, and expressed hope that the outcomes of this meeting will lead to the reinforcement of ECO. In further remarks, he said that throughout the recent two days, the senior experts and deputy foreign ministers of the member states held comprehensive negotiations on the topic of cooperation, reaching a consensus to this end. He added that the recommendations, following approval in foreign ministers' meeting, will be presented in the Summit and Baku Declaration will be published. He also thanked Azerbaijan Republic for hosting the meetings, while emphasizing on speedy implementation of previous ECO agreements and bolster of cooperation among member states. ECO ministerial meeting is held on Monday afternoon in the presence of foreign ministers of member states, including Iran's foreign minister, in Baku. Meanwhile, the 12th ECO Summit is held in Baku on Tuesday, October 16, in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
