Libyan Prime Minister Shukri Muhammad Ghanim Tuesday in Tripoli stressed Iran`s legitimate right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. At a meeting with Iranian Vice-President for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ahmad Moussavi, he said Iran, as other world countries, has the right to pursue peaceful nuclear activities. He said he was certain that the issue raised by Iran`s nuclear activities would soon be resolved through the wise policies of the Iranian government under President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Underlining the need for further expansion of Tehran-Tripoli ties in all fields, Ghanim called for continued exchange of visits between the two countries` officials. He also urged member states of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to adopt policies through consultations and with emphasis on achieving unanimity. Stressing Iran`s huge economic and industrial potentials, the Iranian envoy voiced Tehran`s readiness to expand cooperation with Libya. He also took the occasion to invite the Libyan premier to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran. Accepting the invitation, Ghanim promised he would make the visit in the near future. Outlining Iran`s position on the nuclear issue, Moussavi reiterated tht Iran has the inalienable and legal right to access nuclear technology and produce nuclear energy as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and under the supervision of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors. Mousavi arrived in Tripoli Sunday night after concluding a two-day visit to Algeria.
