Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Afro-Arab affairs Mohammad-Reza Baqeri said here Sunday that by raising doubts (about Iran`s nuclear program), Western nations cannot prevent Iran`s peaceful nuclear activities which are in line with international rules and regulations. Addressing a group of Algerian writers and intellectuals, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran has cooperated with the nuclear watchdog IAEA beyond her legal obligations by taking confidence-building measures and adopting a crystal clear stance in its activities and cooperation with the IAEA. Sincere and extensive cooperation with the IAEA, its experts and inspectors along with reports provided to the UN nuclear body`s Chief Mohamed ElBaradei indicate that there is absolutely no reason for Iran to deviate from its legal commitments in conducting nuclear activities. It has been proven to all that the Islamic Republic of Iran has fully cooperated with the IAEA as well as the additional protocol to NPT but Iran will never give up its legal and legitimate right to benefit from peaceful use of nuclear technology, he underlined. Expressing doubts and concerns over Iran`s nuclear activities and sticking to a language of threat and force indicate the intention of the West to impose a new apartheid policy on Iran`s peaceful nuclear activities, he declared. The Islamic Republic of Iran has successfully removed IAEA`s concerns and ambiguities and underlines its legitimate right to peaceful nuclear activities and will never yield to any kind of pressure, Baqeri stated. Baqeri arrived in Algiers late Thursday on a three-day visit to attend the first session of joint political committee of the two countries and to hold talks with senior Algerian officials on issues of mutual interest.
